After school during term times. Design and make your own clothes and accessories. Get inspired from magazines and exhibitions. Learn dressmaking and customisation. Get help with GCSE textiles. Duke of Edinburgh placements welcome.
Thursdays and Mondays 4 - 5.30 5 week term £60 6 week term £72
A 2.5 hour session for complete adult beginners. You will learn how to thread and operate a sewing machine and all the basic skills required to begin your sewing journey. You will leave the session with a solid sewing foundation on which to build. A great follow on from this session is our adult sewing course.
For those that have attended our absolute beginners session or that have used a sewing machine before. Continue your sewing journey and take your basic skills further, learn simple finishing techniques, how to insert a zip, sew a button and make a button hole and how to alter and mend your clothes. This is provided as a flexible 'course ' of 6 sessions. Bring along a project to work on or if you prefer we can provide one for you. Some sessions will be specific skill building lessons and will focus on a particular technique or method decided by the class.
Wednesdays 10 - 12 and 1 - 3 Fridays 12.30 - 2.30
£120 for 6 sessions. ( £20 a session)
Students will be required to bring their own materials for most projects.
Don't own your own sewing machine? Want some company while sewing? Come and use our machines, overlockers, tables and equipment to work on your own projects with us on hand for advice in these affordable supported sessions. The sessions also happen throughout the week , check our timetable or contact us for available times.
Fridays and Saturdays 11 - 1 ( check timetable for dates ) £8 / £5 (concessions)
We can also provide machine hire in the studio Monday to Friday by arrangement. Contact us by email or call us to enquire.
During this session you will learn all the techniques to make beautiful roman blinds for your home, including measuring up, attaching fittings, lining , hemming, and how to fit the blind in place. You will leave with a sample blind and instructions for your reference. Fabric to be provided by student, we will provide the rest. Details of what to get will be provided on booking your place.
This workshop is not suitable for complete sewing beginners , participants need to have used a sewing machine and be relatively confident.
Make an A line skirt with a waistband. Working from a commercial sewing pattern, you will learn how to transfer markings ,adjust the size and length to fit , and create a pattern to use and keep. Techniques learnt will include inserting a zip, finishing seams and hemming. Materials are to be provided by student. Details of what to get will be provided upon booking your place.
Not suitable for complete beginners, participants must have attended at least 1 introductory session and be able to thread machine, wind bobbin, use seam allowances etc.
We teach pattern cutting in clear and easy to understand lessons. The classes are small so you get loads of help & attention.
6 x 2 hour sessions £120
Every term we aim to have 1 or 2 guest tutor workshops in our studio. These classes will usually take place on Saturdays and while they incorporate textiles and/or stitching, they won't always be strictly sewing classes. From crochet and embroidery to lampshade making, expect a wide variety of creative and exciting classes to choose from.

If you want to learn a particular skill and we don't have the class timetabled in at the moment then please get in touch. If we have enough requests for a session or workshop we can schedule it in the future. For all of our classes some basic materials are provided but students will also need to bring their own. The tutor will discuss the requirements at the time of booking.
